Unlike a number of the people posting hateful reviews, I understand business. I understand the negative impact of giving someone a quote over the phone when you haven't seen the problem, only to have a really angry customer in your face because they failed to tell you about ALL of the problems.
If you're looking for cheap, don't go here. If you're looking for amazing quality work, fair and honest explanations of what's going on, keeping your vehicle safe and reliable... with free loaner cars and friendly staff, then go here. I have been for over a decade and have easily found them the best automotive mechanic option I've used (across 20 years and 3 states).
You get what you pay for, whether it's food, clothing or automotive service.
Always good service and a friendly atmosphere. Over the past few years I've had a number of services performed on my aging Prius by Auto Craftsmen. They've worked with me to find safe solutions while keeping the costs down. Plus they offer a local drop-off and pick-up van service which makes my life so much easier. I'm very satisfied.
I took my car there to be inspected. They failed my vehicle (a well-maintained Toyota SUV) and insisted on multiple fixes, to the tune of $1,800+. New battery, brakes, you name it. They even went so far as to say the windshield wipers (which I had replaced recently myself a month prior) did not clean/clear the windshield and needed to be replaced. I walked away. Took my car to two other mechanics who both gave me the same quote of of $300 for new break pads, that's it. Passed inspection. A year later and my wipers still work fine, and so does my battery!
If you know anything about vehicles or are just struggling to get by I do not recommend that you visit. No one has ever tried to so blatantly take advantage of me or my family in such a fashion before. Do not recommend.
Honest, trustworthy service. Very difficult to find that in a mechanic. Convenient to use their cars when dropping my own off to have work done. They're affordable and competent. I do wish they accepted at least some parts from the customer for install without the labor charge penalty.
Auto Craftsmen isn't, nor have they ever been, the "cheapest" solution to get your car back on the road. They set a very high bar for safety AND reliability. The 230K miles on my Toyota 4Runner is a perfect example of how reliable they can make your vehicle.
Came in for a seized caliper and check engine light. Got a call four hours later saying that I needed $3,500-$4,000 worth of work on my car. I was told my brake lines and hose were rusted "dangerously," wheel bearing was "dangerous," tires were dry-rotted, radiator was leaking coolant, etc. The amount of work was laughable, and they told me I was better off just selling my car. Some of the work they suggested I had just done last year. Had another mechanic come by and take a look, estimated $600 for parts and labor, and said that the work that was suggested was absurd. There was nothing "dangerous" about my car, except the wheel bearing did need replacement. Brake hose and lines were repaired with rubber undercoat, as they were in no way in desperate need of replacement. Unless you want your car taken apart and rebuilt, please look elsewhere.
